The square mile which makes up the City of London is renowned for its blend of historic listed buildings and innovative modern structures, and three new skyscrapers are currently under construction which will contribute to the city’s already iconic skyline: 22 Bishopsgate, 100 Bishopsgate, and The Scalpel.

22 Bishopsgate was originally conceived as the pinnacle of the London cityscape, with an impressive design that would make it the tallest tower in London. However, construction stalled at the seventh storey, and after sitting for few years whilst new plans were drawn up, the unfinished structure became known as ‘The Stump’. Construction has now recommenced, and the building is set to be a robust tower, hitting an impressive height of 272 metres.

The Scalpel is located across from the Lloyds building. It will be 192 metres tall and is designed to slope at an angle (similar to ‘The Cheesegrater’) to avoid blocking a protected viewing corridor. This building is due to be completed near the end of 2017.

100 Bishopsgate is going to reach a height of 172 metres and will be recognisable by its box shape. This building will have some of the most efficient floor plates in the city due to their shape and the profusion of natural light.
