Networking matters

Networking matters

When looking for an office, Morgan Pryce will explore whether location could be the most important factor. Companies generally like the idea of being based in an area close by transport infrastructure, in a desirable buzzing location. Another important factor is to be within a location that is traditional to the industry and provides the ability to network.

Recent studies have proved that networking, once considered a soft skill providing soft benefits is now vital for businesses when turning ideas into reality. This networking scene has never been so easy for London’s entrepreneurs. Over the recent years we have seen the introduction of incubators and accelerator programmes that has led to a cultural shift in bringing companies and people together.

There are many platforms on twitter that encourage start-up companies to meet regularly, especially around the area of Old Street which has now been dubbed Silicon Roundabout. As said by Christina Weguelin, “Our start-up clients are heavily influenced by whether they are moving into the right location to represent their brand. Hedge funds will be looking for offices in Mayfair, whereas TMT companies will look around Old Street, Shoreditch and more recently Southwark.”

London attracts all kinds of businesses, be it fintech companies or pop up shops, there are many people to network with and to share knowledge with. A business plan alone cannot advise investors on everything they need to know, but having a prior relationship will allow the entrepreneur as well as the investor to ensure they are both working with the right person. A website, Tech London Advocates shows an increasing number of entrepreneurs and investors giving both their advice and time with no short term benefit. Networking is once again becoming a powerful tool for all industries.
