Sky has announced plans to develop its focus on virtual reality with a new 70,000 sq ft tech centre at its Osterley site in West London.
The new centre will be the broadcasting giant’s third in Europe, and will be part of a large redevelopment of the London campus to construct five new buildings to “promote the free flow of people and ideas, enabling talent to collaborate and deliver the best outcomes for customers”. The centre will also be used to support and promote Sky’s ongoing commitment to getting more women into tech roles, and will house the company’s ‘Get Into Tech For Young Women’ scheme.
In a statement on the new plans, Chief Executive of Sky Jeremy Darroch explained: “The launch of this dedicated innovation centre will enable us to push the boundaries even further. The development of the West London campus reflects Sky’s journey over the past 29 years. Just as we have moved from porta-cabins to a world-class working environment we have also grown from a satellite business to Europe’s leading direct to consumer media company with content, consumer technology and innovation at its core. We have achieved this by always putting customers at the heart of everything we do and in every decision we make.”
