Tech City? Rekoo can play at that game

Rekoo, the frontrunner in China’s mobile games market, with 200 million users, has announced that it will be setting up business in London, more specifically, in Tech City. The company, and developer of the game/Android app ‘Find Something’, will be the first Chinese company to move there and is hoping to market its games to European consumers, meaning that a European base is required. 

The choice of London for the company’s expansion reflects the fact that China’s relations with the UK are growing ever stronger. Rekoo is hoping to employ ten people initially at its Tech City offices, increasing to 25 within three years. The UK is not the first subsidiary, as Rekoo has had an office in Japan for four years where it employs 30 people. 

The news of Rekoo’s plans coincides nicely with London Mayor Boris Johnson’s visit to China, and it is anticipated that more Chinese firms will follow suit, to what the Mayor has dubbed the “digital capital of the world”. 

Rekoo will be located in a full-service offices in Shoreditch, allowing it to set up business almost as soon as its feet are through the door, with an ease that is credited to Tech City itself – designed to be an easy and convenient choice for businesses to move to. However, the company’s appointment of a European MD has also contributed to the fact that Rekoo will be able to hit the ground running, speedily. 

The company will join a variety of companies at Tech City, including many start-ups as well as big IT players such as Cisco.
