Global technological juggernaut Apple has confirmed plans to establish a London headquarters at Battersea Power Station in 2021.
In the meantime, the firm is due to take up another 15,000 sq ft at 40 Argyll Street in the West End, where it already rents some space, which will facilitate expansion in time for the move to Battersea and provide some protection against any delays to the significant construction currently taking place at the power station.
The new space is currently occupied by online news provider Buzzfeed, which announced some editorial cutbacks in January, and will be able to accommodate up to 100 Apple employees. Apple is also looking into taking further space at the site as it seeks to consolidate its London presence before moving 1400 staff to Battersea when work is finished. Construction at the power station is still on track to be completed by 2021.
