Recent reports confirm that Aorland Holdings has now submitted plans for the skyscraper dubbed The Shard II. As previously reported by Morgan Pryce, the 1 Undershaft building is set to be the tallest building in the City of London.
The building will have 73 floors and stand 309.6 metres tall. If everything goes to plan, the building will have 970,000 sq. ft. of new internal area and include a public restaurant, public viewing gallery, and large public square at the bottom floor.
The ground level will be available to the public, and will have over 22,000 sq. ft. of retail space. As previously stated, the intention is to make the building a popular area for professionals working in the City of London, where they can also spend their lunch hours. The permission of the project should be concluded by the summer this year.
Eugene O’Sullivan Managing Director and surveyor at Morgan Pryce said: “Building up is essential in the City of London. As vacancy rates stay low, new stock is desperately needed to meet the demand we are seeing in the market.”
